PYTHIA aims to model the physics of high-energy collisions under a variety of conditions. It has been used at generations of colliders, and currently is one of the workhorses for LHC physics studies. To meet experimental demands the program has been rewritten from scratch in C++, and a number of improvements have been added. The seminar will give a general overview and then zoom in on a few selected topics.
The emphasis will be on QCD phenomena, both in their own right and as part of the modelling of Beyond-the-Standard-Model physics.
