Gravity, Fluids and Statistics: Formation of Cosmic Structures
Prof. Dr. Bjoern Malte Schäfer (Universität Heidelberg)

The formation of cosmic structures such as voids, filaments, sheets and halos takes place under the effect of gravity, while being influenced by the properties of dark matter and dark energy. I give an overview of the basic processes in cosmic structure formation, and how the structure formation dynamics is linked to statistical observables. Additionally, I discuss perturbative approaches to structure formation and current developments in structure formation simulations. Finally I’ll show a few results on mechanisms for angular momentum generation in galaxies and what observable consequences this might have.
