PLANCK's view on the cosmic microwave background
Prof. Björn Malte Schäfer (Heidelberg)

PLANCK is the third major mission for observing the cosmic microwave background and has released data with a precision determination of cosmological parameters: I will explain the physical processes leading to the generation of the cosmic microwave background, including its anisotropies, illustrate in detail why there is sensitivity towards cosmological parameters, and go through the measurement and data processing steps. Finally, I’ll provide an explanation about measurements of gravitational waves in the cosmic microwave background.
