Many experiments and observations indicate the need for physics beyond the standard model. The usual approach to search for BSM effects is collider experiments. In this talk we argue that low energy laboratory experiments can provide for a complementary probe of fundamental physics. We discuss a variety of ideas to search for new particles/effects in small scale laboratory experiments involving lasers, strong magnets and other cool toys.
