First Results from ALICE at the LHC
Prof. Johannes P. Wessels (Universität Münster / CERN)

This talk will focus on the results obtained with the ALICE experiment during the first heavy ion run at sqrt(s_NN) = 2.76 TeV, which took place at the end of 2010. Data will be presented on the bulk properties of the medium created in such collisions. This will be compared to results from pp collisions. Further, i will discuss flow observables, correlations, particle production as well as spectra of identified particles out to large transverse momenta. In comparing to reference data obtained in pp collisions we discuss in particular the modification of high p_T particles traversing the hot and dense medium.
