Quantum gates in an optical lattice: entanglement in large systems
Dr. Olaf Mandel (Institut für Physik)

Cold atoms can be stored at individual sites of an optical lattice in two different ground-states. The atoms can be shifted through the lattice in a controlled fashion to create entanglement in the system.
This technique is proposed to be used for a quantum simulator of solid state systems.
