Helium, Quantum Electrodynamics, and Halo Nuclei
Gordon W. F. Drake (Department of Physics, University of Windsor, Canada)

Recent advances in theoretical methods for atomic helium and lithium open the way to new kinds of measurement strategies. The talk will focus on an overview of two main themes: (1) advances in atomic theory for relativistic and QED effects, and (2) applications to the measurement of nuclear charge radii from the isotope shift. Results for recent measurements on He-6 at Argonne, and Li-8 and Li-9 at GSI will be discussed.
