The perturbative treatment of multi-scale problems in collider physics is generically plagued by large logarithms in phase space regions with widely separated scales. One approach to treat this problem is resummation, which can be achieved in a natural way via RG equations in Soft-Collinear Effective Theory (SCET).
In this talk I will present SCET as an effective theory of QCD and highlight its use to address resummation. I will focus on the evaluation of 2-loop dijet soft functions, which are crucial for NNLL resummation in SCET, and present an algorithmic approach suitable for automation and numerical treatment of a wide range of soft functions. I will present an implementation of this strategy in the form of computer code, and show some results - both new and validations of the literature - computed with it.
