At present, the largest source of uncertainty in the extraction of the Higgs properties from LHC data comes from the theory error on the production cross section. We recently managed to obtain a dramatic reduction of this uncertainty with the calculation of the gluon-fusion production rate through the next-to-next-to-next to leading order (N^3LO) in QCD.
I will give an overview of the tools that we employed to achieve this result, discuss the various contributions that enter the final cross section, and assess the remaining theory uncertainty.
