MESA - The Mainz Energy-recovering Superconducting Accelerator
Prof. Dr. Kurt Aulenbacher (Institut für Kernphysik, JGU)

Contemporary accelerators cannot present optimized beam conditions to the experimenters because of the limited energy budget. Energy recovery is a new experimental technique which offers to circumvent several of these problems by increasing the energy efficiency from presently a few percent towards 90% or even more. MESA will not only demonstrate a cost efficient implementation of this technique but will also serve for the next generation of nuclear and particle physics experiments at the Institut für Kernphysik of Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz.
