Flavour Symmetries: From Neutrino Mass Models to Higgs LFVs
Martin Holthausen (MPI Heidelberg)

I will review the use of (mostly) discrete flavour symmetries to describe fermion mixing. The impact of the (relatively recent) measurement of a large reactor mixing angle on model building is discussed in a model-independent way, and a novel VEV alignment mechanism is presented. This allows to build models that may be directly testable at the LHC, for example. The question if the recent CMS excess in the channel h -> mu tau can be explained in such a model will be answered.
