The Drinfeld associator: recursive calculation of open-string amplitudes

Employing the Drinfeld associator, open string tree amplitudes can be calculated for any multiplicity and to any order in the inverse string tension. After describing the method and its mathematical background, I will comment on the applicability to other field and string theories.
