Quantum Field Theories which are non-renormalizable in perturbation theory may be renormalizable beyond perturbation theory.
Examples are \(4\)-Fermi theories and nonlinear sigma models in 3 spacetime dimensions and quantum gravity. In recent years many results based on functional renormalization group methods show that this so-called asymptotic safety scenario is very probably realized. I shall present new results on the realization of the asymptotic safety scenario for nonlinear O(N) models as obtained with the renormalization group equation in the continuum and for the corresponding lattice models with the help of Monte-Carlo simulations.
