The LHC is expected to probe, and provide evidence for, the existence of new phenomena beyond the Standard Model (SM).
However, so far the results from the LHC experiments do not indicate any deviation from the SM and the search for such phenomena generates exceptional challenges for theory and experiment. In particular we need a detailed understanding of SM background processes which requires precise theoretical predictions at next-toleading order (NLO).
In this talk I will introduce the generator RECOLA which allows the generation of one-loop matrixelements in the SM.
I will discuss several of its features and as an application I will examine the NLO electroweak corrections to the production of Z+2jets at the LHC.
