Current induced domain wall motion in Rashba quantum wires - Short current pulse behavior and non-local torques
Dr. Martin Stier (Universität Hamburg)

Current induced domain wall motion received a widespread attention in scientific research since it promises possible application in electronic devices but also insight into complex physical processes. We show how a Rashba interaction may alter the velocity of a domain wall - particularly for short current pulses. In addition we extend the common local description of the spin transfer torque (STT) to a non-local one. This non-locality comes into play primarily for steep domain walls were the local STT seems to be inaccurate.
