Quarks are not accessible to direct experiment but calculations in lattice QCD give us the possibility of inferring their properties by comparison to the often very accurate experimental results we have on gold-plated hadron masses and their weak and electromagnetic decay rates.
I will describe recent calculations using lattice QCD which allow percent level tests of the Standard Model and accurate determination of quarks masses and the strong coupling constant.
