The Large Hadron Electron Collider Project
Prof. Dr. Max Klein (DESY Hamburg)

An introduction and overview is given on the development of the LHeC project at CERN, its physics motivation and the concepts for the accelerator, based on the LHC combined with a new 60 GeV energy recovery linear electron beam, and for a detector for precision deep inelastic scattering measurements. The LHeC is designed for synchronous operation with the LHC in its high luminosity phase of operation.
