Strangeness in the Nucleon from Lattice QCD

The estimate of the fraction of the nucleon mass due to the contribution of strange quarks suffers from large uncertainties. I will present the recent progress in lattice QCD calculations of this quantity and indicate its possible impact on current phenomenological studies.
