The causes (and effects) of scaling in QCD jets
Dr. Erik Gerwick (Universität Göttingen)

The probabilities for producing a given number of jets in a QCD process follow universal scaling patterns. In this seminar I will review our understanding of this feature based on analytic resummation and the parton shower.
I will highlight some applications for these ideas including improved multi-jet searches and emphasize several control measurements where scaling may be tested in current analyses.
