Superconductivity meets magnetism: Solid-state chemistry of iron-based superconductors
Prof. Dr. Dirk Johrendt (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, München)

Iron-based materials demonstrate that high-Tc superconductivity is not limited to thesingle class of copper-oxides. Generic phase diagrams of both systems share the proximity of superconductivity to magnetic order suggesting that spin fluctuations may play a role in the pairing mechanism. My talk focuses on material aspects of iron-arsenide superconductors with an emphasis on the interplay between structural, magnetic and superconducting order parameters. In the second part I present new compounds that raise the chemical complexity of iron-arsenide superconductors while crucial features of their electronic structure are amazingly maintained.
