Phenomenology with D-Branes

During this blackboard presentation Martin will give us an introduction to his current thesis work.
To this aim he will give us an introduction to string theory and compactification, to subsequently talk about the construction of Yang-Mills theories from string theory.
In an application to a specific orbifold we will see how a low energy limit, that contains the Standard Model, can be derived.
