Dynamics of particles in turbulence: from tracers to clouds

I shall report experiments on particle tracking in turbulent flows. After an introduction to turbulent flows I shall review the physics and give results on the single particle acceleration, the two particle, and the four particle statistics.

Then I shall discuss the dynamics of inertial particles and the consequences to the warm cloud micro physics.

In closing I shall review the cloud physics experiments on the Umweltforschungsanlage Schneefernerhaus on the Zugspitze and the Goettingen Variable Density Windtunnel.
