Precision Determinations of Heavy Quark Masses
Sebastian Bodenstein (University of Cape Town)

In this talk, we look at recent progress made in determining heavy quark masses, with a particular focus on the charm quark mass. Interestingly, the precision achieved from lattice and sum-rule based approaches are comparable at the moment, providing a non-trivial consistency check on both methods.
After giving a critical discussion focusing on the current sum-rule methods, we also look at the prospects for improving the precision of the heavy quark masses.
Finally, we show how a technique developed in quark mass determinations can be used to give a rigorous, ?first principles determination, of the heavy quark contribution to the lowest order hadronic contribution of the muon magnetic anomaly.
