Nonlinear THz Electrodynamics of High Tc Cuprates
Prof. A. Cavalleri (DESY, MPI für strukturelle Dynamik, MPSD, Hamburg)

By using strong-field THz transients, we control superconducting cuprates, inducing superconductivity in non-superconducting compounds, or switching transport properties reversibly between resistive and coherent states at optimal doping. We also use nonlinear excitations of Josephson plasmons to study vortex dynamics, a feat that requires the application of concepts from quantum optics and condensed matter physics. All thorough the talk, I will discuss the use of Free Electron Lasers to induce and study dynamics in these compounds.
