In the hadronic threshold region of high energy scattering, a large momentum transfer between the active and spectator partons in the initial hadron is inevitable.
Using this fact we develop the power-counting rules near the endpoint region and show the scaling behavior in terms of 1-x. We also consider the dynamics near the endpoint more specifically employing the factorization approach using soft-collinear effective theory. The result is similar to exclusive processes such as semileptonic B decays, and not in agreement with the conventional approach, which includes only the interaction of the active parton. More rigorous studies are required for the precise numerical estimations.
