Flavour Symmetries and Minimal Flavour Violation

Starting from the general concept of minimal flavour violation (MFV) in the context of new physics constructions, I discuss recent developments related to spontaneously broken flavour symmetries at (relatively) low energies, leading to MFV or variations thereof.
