Particle Spin - A Mystery and its Applications
Prof. Dr. Klaus Jungmann (Nuclear Accelerator Institute, University of Groningen, The Netherlands)

From its discovery the spin of elementary particles has been accompanied by secrets and misunderstandings.
Still today we lack a deeper understanding of the spin of, e.g., nucleons. The rigid coupling of a particles spin and its magnetic moment nevertheless provides for a broad spectrum of applications ranging from studies of fundamental forces and symmetries to magnetic field measurements and medical imaging.
