Observation of the Higgs Boson of strong interaction
Martin Schumacher (Goettingen)

It is shown that dominant parts of the electromagnetic polarizabilities of the nucleon can be traced back to the structure of the constituent quarks. The origin of these parts of the polarizabilities is the σ meson for the electromagnetic polarizabilities ? α and ?β and the neutral pion π0 for the backward spin-polarizability γπ. The mass and two-photon decay widths of the σ meson entering into the calculation of the polarizabilities α? and ?β follow in a straightforward way from the bosonized Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. This shows that via Compton scattering the σ meson is observed on the constituent quarks as expected in the framework of chiral symmetry breaking. The observed σ meson has essentially the same properties for the strong interaction as the Higgs Boson for the EW interaction.
