Functional Renormalization Group Equations and Quantum Gravity
Dr. Frank Saueressig (Universität Mainz)

We give a pedagogical introduction the functional renormalization group approach to Quantum Gravity. Starting from the underlying conceptual ideas we review the main technical ingredients used to investigate the non-perturbative properties of the theory: the effective average action and its functional renormalization group equation. Based on these tools, we discuss the evidence for a non-Gaussian UV-fixed point of the gravitational RG flow, which could provide the continuum limit of the theory along the lines of Weinbergs Asymptotic Safety scenario.
