Permanent Electric Dipole Moments (EDMs) violate the conservation of fundamental discrete symmetries.
EDMs are searched for in various laboratories using a variety of physical systems, because they offer an opportunity to explain the dominance of matter over antimatter in the universe. This research is carried out in high precision experiments employing modern methods of atomic physics.
